Park City and Steamboat Springs

Before leaving Park City we got 3 awesome days in on the bikes. We rode the Mid-Mountain trail also called the “8,000 ft trail” on the first day. The second day at Park City we went higher. We climbed up John’s trail and continued climbing up past the Summit House which sits a little above 9,000 ft. From there we started climbing up Apex Trail, but it quickly became clear to us that we were the first to have been here this season: snow drifts everywhere (with no tracks through them) and downed trees, so we decided to turn around and enjoy the bomber down hill.

On our last day in Park City we drove a little north out of town in order to ride the Flying Dog loop. Once again the flowers were out in full force. The trails here were smooth as can be and the rigid single speed was the perfect choice for this set of trails.

From Park City the plan was for us to start making our way back home towards Boulder. Originally the intent was to head south towards Durango, but we decided that going that route would mean more driving and less riding as it would take us quite far south before heading back east. Instead we decided to head back home via Steamboat Springs. It turned out to be a good choice. We spent all day today riding north of Steamboat Springs on the Hot Springs, Mad Creek, Red Dirt and Lower Bear trails.

After our ride we made a well deserved stop at the hot springs…
