Jen and I have been eying the Vasquez Cirque at Winter Park ever since they put in the Eagle Wind chair two years ago. This past weekend, on Valentines Day, the stars finally aligned. Well, more precise, the ski patrol at Winter Park deemed the snow conditions good enough and the avalanche risk low enough, that they opened the gate to the Vasquez Cirque access road.
We hiked in twice. First time we skied down just south of the Alphabet Chutes and into the “100′s”. The second time we went in right about where the South and West Headwall’s meet, and from there into yummy pockets of snow in the South Basin. Wow! The runs in Vasquez Cirque prompted a little video taking assembled into the collage below.
